The Holy Church of Saint Kyprianos is one of the most important spiritual places of the village of Gialtra, in North Evia. It is located in a green and quiet village, a short distance from Edipsos Baths, and is dedicated to Saint Kyprianos, a saint of the Orthodox Church who is especially honoured for the power of his prayer against witchcraft and evil spirits.
The church impresses with its simplicity and solemn atmosphere. It is a simple but elegant church, combining the traditional architecture of Evia with a strong religious feeling. Its stone facade and the wooden elements of the dome and the bell tower create a special ensemble that attracts believers and visitors.
Saint Kyprianos is known as the protector against the evil forces and against the evil powers. Many pilgrims visit the temple seeking protection, health and deliverance from difficulties. The icon of the saint, located inside the temple, is considered miraculous by the locals. His feast day, on October 2, is an important religious event for Yalta and the surrounding areas.
The temple is a single-aisled building with a simple but imposing iconostasis and a carefully designed interior. The frescoes depict scenes from the life of St. Kyprianos and St. Ioustinianos. The courtyard is well-kept, with flowers and shady trees, an ideal place for contemplation and rest.
The church is surrounded by local vegetation and is located in a spot with a panoramic view of the Evian Gulf, making it an ideal place not only for prayer, but also for spiritual renewal in nature.
The Holy Church of Agios Kyprianos is an active part of the community of Gialtra. The parishioners take care of its maintenance and often host worship and social events. Its location, close to tourist areas such as Edipsos Baths, makes it accessible to visitors seeking more than religious tourism – an experience of faith, tranquility and authentic tradition.
