In the place of the historic Monastery of Katarrakti is now the Monastery of Agios Dimitrios.
The church of Agios Dimitrios Katarratki is located northeast of the settlement of Octonia, in a lush ravine and near a small waterfall, from which it takes its characteristic name. The church was the Katholikon of the monastery of the same name. The fountain of the monastery is preserved near the church. There are no cells left, only stone walls.
The church is cross-listed and inscribed with very good frescoes. The hagiography was done in 1633-36.
In the revolution of 1821 the abbot Paisios and the monks rose up against the Turks and many times offered money and ammunition to the fighters. They repeatedly supplied ships and supported them financially. That is why Omer Bey Karystinlis was angry with them. Returning from Kymi in 1821, he camped in the Alonia area of the settlement of Orios and savagely plundered the monastery. He destroyed cells and after capturing its abbot Paisios with eleven other monks, he transported them to Alonia and killed them.
In 1831 the monastery was deserted, after the old monk who had been appointed abbot by Omer Bey died. He was succeeded by the monk Ananias, who took over the guardianship of the ruined monastery until 1843. In 1833 the monastery was completely deserted by Bishop Iakovos of Chalkida. The looting of the monastery was complete. The looting of Iakovos was confirmed by the mayor of the former municipality of Dystia, after an autopsy of the monastery by the mayor of the former municipality of Dystia, on the order of the Eparch of Karystia.
After its dissolution, the monastery was annexed to the monastery of Lefkes as its metochi. Later, its property was sold to the inhabitants of the area.
