The Archaeological Museum of Karystos is housed in the west wing of Giokaleiou Cultural Foundation, a legacy of the benefactor Nikolaos Giokalas. Built in 1959 Square Maximilian Karystos. Comprises halls Archaeological Museum (1988), Theatre, Library. The local Archaeological Service organizes guided tours and theater and the library under the supervision of the Municipality of Karystos.

The west wing of Giokaleiou Cultural Foundation granted under the terms of the covenant of Law. Giokalas, 1980 the Ministry of Culture for the creation of the Archaeological Museum. IA Prehistoric and Classical Antiquities shaped the surrendered space and launched the Karystos Museum in 1989, presenting for the first time the general public the findings of the area.
